The Options Window is used to set user preferences and program defaults.

 

The Data Path is set during the program installation.  The Data Path is displayed on the Options Window.

 

 

Tool Tip Type

 

Press the down arrow button and choose which type of tip will be used throughout the program.  The Tool Tip is shown when the mouse pointer is hovered over a button or field on the active window.  The tip can be very helpful while learning the program.  Later, it might be appropriate to turn off the Tool Tips.

 

Money Format

 

Simply click on the down arrow button and select the preferred money format that will be used throughout the program.

 

 

Press the Next button to advance to the next Options Window.

 

 

Load TimeLog at Windows Startup

 

Check this box to run TimeLog when the computer is turned on so it will always be available.  When this box is checked and the Options Wizard is finished, the program will search for all copies of timelog.exe and display it in a window.  Highlight the correct one that will be run each time at system startup, and then press the Select button.

 

Remember, TimeLog can be minimized to the system tray, so it can be quickly opened when needed.

 

Activate Projects

 

Click on the Projects check box to activate the use of Projects in the program.  This will allow a project to be selected for each time period entered on the Time Entry Window.  Create Projects by selecting the Action Menu and then selecting Projects.

 

Rounding

 

Click the down arrow and select the preferred rounding type that will be used throughout the program.  The possible selections are to round to the nearest minute, the nearest one tenth of an hour (six minutes), or the nearest quarter of an hour (fifteen minutes).

 

Start Time Rounding

 

Click the down arrow and select the preferred start time rounding type that will be used throughout the program.

 

The possible selections are Standard, Forward and Backward.

 

Standard rounding would be one through four rounds back and five through nine rounds forward.
Forward rounding would round the Start Time forward to the beginning of the next time increment as selected in the type rounding field above. (For example, to the beginning of the next quarter of an hour.)
Backward rounding would round the Start Time backward to the beginning of the present time incremented as selected in the type rounding field above. (For example, if one tenth of an hour rounding is selected above, and the present time is 10:05, the Start Time would revert to 10:00.)

 

Stop Time Rounding

 

Click the down arrow and select the preferred Stop Time rounding type that will be used throughout the program.

 

The possible selections are Standard, Forward and Backward.

Forward rounding would round the Stop Time forward to the beginning of the next time increment as selected in the type rounding above. (For example, to the beginning of the next quarter of an hour - 10:04 would round to 10:15)
Backward rounding would round the Stop Time backward to the beginning of the present time incremented as selected in the type rounding above. (For example, if one tenth of an hour rounding is selected above, and the present time is 10:05, the Stop Time would revert to 10:00.)

Click on the Finish button to save all settings.
